Depeche Mode has some really good songs. Yeah, I've always loved the Mode, hehe. I also like music involving the strings and piano, as you mentioned.

i have always loved music, and just like many have said here i am very affected by it, music can energize me or calm me down depending on the type and my mood. generally the most stimulating music for me is Trance techno, especially dream trance, i find things with too much of a beat however to be either boring or ear grating. i also love cinematic/soundtrack music to movies and video games, Hey, I have no problems with people bringing back old threads. It's one of the reasons I made my 'auto-lock' feature take a while to kick in. When you're trying to build a community, conversation is big, hehe.
I'm also into stimulating music that energizes me and helps me focus. Perhaps I should listen to more techno/trance, since a lot of people seem to really enjoy it. I'm so old school in my tastes.

RE: What music do you stim to?
wow I hadn't even considered this.
Music has always moved me, mostly classical and choral. I would agree with Alicat on most of her choices as well. I can't do "dance"/"rave" music - really at all. It just grates at me. Like nails + chalkboard.
I listen to Libera a lot when trying to focus/calm.
Classical music has always helped my SPD son as well - we always just thought it was a normal calming thing. We'd switch stations et voila - most times, he'd calm down. He does like a lot of music with good beat/rythm, and enjoys dance music like his dad. I often find him singing to himself
cool thread.

RE: What music do you stim to?
Again it seems like this thread has gone quiet.. but I thought i'd post anyway
I'm pretty change-able with what I like but it will usually be the same songs every time im in that mood
Music that makes me energetic/excited/happy/get moving:
Symphonic Power metal:
Sonata Arctica - especially the songs 'replica', 'victoria's secret' , 'wolf and the raven' and 'kingdom for a heart'
Kamelot
Some System of a down - like most of the songs on toxicity album, and a two other albums (but there's a whole lot of their stuff that is too chaotic and loud)
90's Pop:
Ace of Base and other 90's pop music ... even the bad/corny ones haha (yes.. including 'back streets back' )
To relax: celtic, fiddle music, enya, and personal favourite 'fiona apple' and love the chorus from '2am' by Anna Nalik
Also love classical music (mainly baroque / chamber) love vivaldi, bach, handle, corelli , also Beethoven
occasionally like Dubstep - but am not really familiar with the genre
lastly music that I can relate to when im down:
Bands:
3 days grace
Flyleaf
Sia - 'breathe me'
That's pretty much everything I ever listen to, I have so much music on my phone.. but never listen to the other stuff....
Cats have acute vision, they have 200 million scent receptors,
can hear 1 octave above the range of a dog
and can be easily overwhelmed by touch.

RE: What music do you stim to?
Cat Power
Joni Mitchell
Led Zeppelin
Kaki King
The Band
The Doors
Neil Young
Norah Jones
Paul Simon (some)
Trixie Whitley
In general I like older music. As a kid I loved fifties doo-wop music. Later on I got more into sixties and seventies music. I hate 80's and 90's music and anything electronic or techno.
I love anything with great vocals like Cat power, and joni mitchell.
I really like the sound of old sixties twangy rock guitars. I don't know what amp they use to get that sound, but I can always tell. My b/f told me once what type of guitar and amp it was.
Anything with really good guitar is my favourite.
kaki king does amazing things on guitar and doesn't sing, which is nice for writing to.
Usually I like to sing while I clean and cook so that's when I put on something with good vocals like cat power, or etta james, or even the band (especially with rick danko singing).
As a teenager I liked pop music with good singing like Hanson and Jewel, but I was embarrassed to tell anyone I liked hanson at that age because all the kids in my school made fun of them, but they are actually great musicians and have only gotten better since they grew up.
Oops, almost forgot Santana. I don't like all his stuff, but there are a few really great songs I listen to over and over like Samba Pa Ti and Black Magic Woman.
