DSM V - Last Chance
For those of us who have SPD or have children with SPD. The American Psychiatrict Association decided in one of the DSM-5 committee meetings to vote “No,†on having SPD be an official diagnosis meaning that SPD should not be included in the DSM-5 as a “Novel Diagnosis in need of further research.†This will limit our ability to get treatment help, possibly reduce funding for more studies, and lose our ability to increase awareness of the disorder. The APA is accepting feedback on their decision until Friday. Cut and paste this link http://spdfoundation.net/advocacyDSM.html to the SPD foundation for directions on how to comment on SPD being left out of the DSM 5. I hope everyone in the U.S. will take time to offer comments about this. The subject is dear to my heart and my sanity and I hope that if we make enough noise, they well reconsider their decision. Thanks!
