Hello everyone!
I am new here, but I am at a total loss and need advice. My son has SPD and is mainly a sensory seeker. For months he was biting on his hands and nails, but now he has started biting on his inside of his lip and cheeks. He always has sores in his mouth, and now he is a huge one. I am worried and not sure what to do. He doctor has no idea how to help us. We have been waiting for our OT evaluation for months now, but was final told we should hear something next week. (super short staffed) He has a developmental pediatrician and a geneticist that we also see. We are waiting on results from the geneticist. He does have a chromosomal abnormality, but since everything doesn't had up we are having more test run. (takes 4 months to get the results back) I guess what my question is... how normal is it to bite yourself? he doesn't even act like it hurts. What do I do to help him?? I am just not sure what to do since this is all so new to me.
Thanks!

RE: New here and worried...
Have you tried chew tubes, chewelry and the like? There is also a cuff bracelet that can be worn on the wrist for biting.

RE: New here and worried...
I feel your pain. My Son has SPD. & a chromosome deletion. He actually has to wear a helmet because he bangs his head & pokes his eyes & has starting biting himself now too. I hope you are able to get some answers. I wish I had some answers for ya but I don't. Were still trying to figure things out too. We have been to so many specialist & now we are waiting to see the behavioral psychologist soon to try to figure this all out. I've asked all this dr's too and have gotten nowhere really. I'll be praying for you and hope you get help & some answers.
