My daughter is eight years old. She was diagnosed with SPD and anxiety last April. But i have known since she was two something was up. She hated any bathroom but our own and would run out of ours before we could flush the toilet, hated any noises ie; blender, vaccume, loud traffic. She also needed a very strick routine like home by 7 pm every night or she would just scream until we got home. Some of these have changed some not. She still fights any personal hygene. She has been going to OT since september and we are slowly seeing a little improvement. But we are noticing new things too. Like all of a sudden she needs eight blankets to sleep and wants a ton of stuffed animals in her bed too. Thinking a weighted blanket might help. Is it normal for your child to show improvement in one area but add a new issue too? She has always been paticular about bed time but this was so new. Anyway I am glad I joined this group I have had a very hard past few weeks. Feeling very overwhelmed and stressed. Hopefully will get support and give it as well.
Thanks

RE: Hello. New to the group
WELCOME!!!!!! Before I forget!!!! you will see improvements in one area and another will pop up! Ok, hi, I have an 8 yr old son with SPD. He sleeps with about 20 stuffed animals, he has a weighted blanket, the whole shebang! You will see improvements but there will be something else that will come up, you might see behaviors become worse before they become better, I can't write too much now I have to get ready for work, but I will post more later!!!! Welcome and have a great day!!!!!
