RE: 5yr old sensory processing
I have now had a diagnosis of ADHD and developmental dyspraxia. We saw an OT today who had no doubt he had sensory issues. She had given us lots of exercises to do twice a day. I'm feeling so overwhelmed by how much we have to do. I don't think the ADHD diagnosis was correct and furious that he has suggested medication before anything else.

RE: 5yr old sensory processing
My daughter has also been diagnosed with dyspraxia. I was also overwhelmed with the number of exercises she is supposed to do every day, and the OT adds one every week without taking one away. When is a 5 year old supposed to just play and have fun? I emailed the OT and told her we only have so much time in the day so she needs to keep that in mind when she gives us a new exercise. Last week I asked if we could stop doing the brushing therapy because they added 30 minutes of listening therapy a day. She replied, "I don't think that would be a good idea, but I guess you could do it less times per day." I think the most beneficial thing my daughter does to keep herself "just right" is heavy lifting, pushing and pulling. She always seems happier and easier to get along with when she has done these things.
