I am new here. I have a 7 ear old son with SPD and an anxiety disorder. It can be stressful at times, with school and homework. He is such a creative, sweet and caring little boy. Sometimes I wish I could take it from him, but then he wouldn't be who he is. Getting others to understand it is a real thing is frustrating, so unless it is someone close to me or medically familiar I don't try. It is just nice to know there is a place here that I am not alone and there are other people on the same journey as me!

Hi and welcome! My older son was diagnosed with SPD a few months before he turned 7 (1st grade). Then with anxiety several months after that. He's 10 now. He's able to handle many of his sensory issues now, but he still struggles with the anxiety. I completely understand when you say you wish you could take it from him. Hugs!
What has helped my son a lot is a social skills group. He went weekly to one at school (1st to 4th), and goes weekly to one at his psychologist's office.
