Recent stroke and now SPD?
I'm wondering if there are any other stroke survivors (cerebellar) who acquired SPD? I have been tested and found to have Auditory processing disorder but one of my dr. says that APD isn't a diagnosis but rather a symptom. Of what, I don't know?? but now I'm on a mission to find out. I believe I may also have problems with visual processing and proprioception. A sleep mask and earplugs are my best friends since the stroke.

RE: Recent stroke and now SPD?
Hello Louisef, and welcome to SPD Support.
I'm sorry to hear about the stroke, yikes! Those sound quite awful. While I'm not sure if anyone else here currently started having SPD symptoms after a stroke, I am aware that this is definitely a possibility for a stroke victim. After all, SPD is all about brain and nerve wiring, and strokes can certainly impair that very system.
I hope you have been able to find some relief. Have you been to an occupational therapist (OT)? I know in a lot of places that's fairly standard after having a stroke to see an OT, but I'd like to make sure, as OTs who work with sensory integration are 'the people to see' when it comes to SPD.
Again, welcome to the site, and I hope you're able to find the support and camaraderie you seek here.
Hi, welcome to SPD Support! Have a free cyber hug!
