I found out that length of hair has calming weight to it. So too short can make one feel miserable. At least that was my experience as a girl. Here is a trick that I do when I can't stand my hair on my neck. I take my hairbrush and put it where the hair joins the neck and vibrate the brush up and down extremely fast! That can make me gasp with pleasure.Or I use my hairbrush to brush my neck and then smooth it down with the smooth side! another trick is to put a weighted cold pack on your neck for as long as you can stand it. Thats great for superhot days. But this last one is one that I find releases a ton of tension! This is a two handed trick! With one hand I gather my hair into a ponytail low on the head and hold it. With the dominant hand I put on the neck. Then one hand pulls outward on the ponytail but not to the point of pain. The dominant hand pushes inward hard on the neck but not to the point of pain. Then you do both pull and push simultaneously for a few seconds! The tension release is wonderful! Neck massage if you do it to yourself can be great! I love hair pulling as well I pull to the exact tension that I want and what a relief! I have tried massaging my scalp as well. I want to get a vibrating hairbrush! I also like to put neck weights on the neck for sensory integration. Hats or caps can be great as well. Those can add needed weight. Well I hope that this helps! Good luck!

I have hair down to my hips and love keeping it long. Though it's really thick.
I fluctuate between a few different styles. Hair down with nothing done to it, but parted to the left and then all of it over my left shoulder; Putting it completely back with a tight headband that has those little nubs and tight ponytail, then throw the ponytail over my left shoulder. Pretty much whatever I do with my hair, it ends up over my left shoulder. I've also lazily braided (to the left) and then put the hairband in to keep the wisps off my face.
