ADHD(Inattentive) and SPD?
I was trying to make sense of my 10 year old son's clothing habits. He is extremely particular about what he wears. Only certain khakis, pants or shorts, only certain colors including the same color short sleeve oxford button down. He would literally wear the same clothes if he could.
He will wear dri-fit, but he only wants a certain brand.
Tags bother him
Certain types of socks bother him
He goes around, at home, barefoot (takes his socks off almost immediately) and shirtless.
He plays hockey. He needs to wear basketball "sleeves" under his elbow pads which "bother" him.
When it comes to food, he definitely will not each most types of potato unless it is crispy fried. He will eat things like oatmeal and farina, but I should note that he will comment on preferring it to be firm. Pretty much no sauces or condiments. He is dealing with sauce recently, but he will comment on anything that appears saucy.
Now, he was diagnosed with ADHD (inattentive-type), but what we've formerly perceived as being rigid and controlling seems to fit very well with what I've read about SPD. I've never experienced anything like it.
I'm wondering what others think?
