I found this website from the SID-DSI_AllAboutKids Yahoo! group. Thanks, Dan, for letting me know this was here.
I have a son who will be 3 in December and I suspect he has SPD. He was sensitive to touch, sound, another person's presence in the room, etc. from birth. He couldn't stand to go from laying on the changing table to my chest (the movement between the two places), and much, much more.
These days he's more of a sensory seeker, being extremely aggressive with his sister, and beginning to hit myself and my husband, which is so very new and upsetting.
We plan to get him an evaluation but haven't yet pursued it. We don't have insurance and planned to wait until we did (probably in January), but EI was recommended to us, so I think I'll call them Monday to find out if his birthday is too close to get started.
I am so happy to have found a safe place to learn about this and express my fears and concerns. Being a parent is hard, and lately it seems like it's only getting harder.
I'm hoping that an evaluation and (hopefully) a diagnosis and therapy will help this job of parenting not seem so overwhelming.
