Adult with SPD in need of advice
Hi. I'm Jade, I have SPD.
I was tested as a kid but my parents believed that the therapy I was given got rid of it? I'm not sure what the thought process was, to be honest. But I only learned of all of this recently when my therapist suggested I may have it and I began looking into my childhood medical history.
I get overloads easily from auditory overstim but find tactile stims calming.
I'm a writer, but I really want to figure out something I can do for a living. I've been unemployed for all of 2017. I have no idea what I could actually handle in a work setting.
I could really use advice and support.
My main hobby is Dungeons and Dragons. I also love movies and went to film school.
Anyway, nice to meet everyone.

RE: Adult with SPD in need of advice
Hi Jade,
Welcome. I am new to the forums to. Your parents may have hoped that the therapy you had undergone before had cured everything and maybe didn't want to find out that it hadn't. You might need to look for remote work or at least jobs that are mostly remote with some limited office time. Perhaps you could be a scriptwriter.

RE: Adult with SPD in need of advice
I had training in scriptwriting before realizing there was little work in my country for that I'm applying for freelance writing jobs, but it's hard to get hired. there's a lot of competition.
I went to the Coalition for Persons with Disabilities to get advice, but so far it's just been them calling to reschedule meetings and then not being around when I try to do that ><
feeling pretty hopeless, to be honest
