Just want to start by saying hello. I am a mother of 3 beautiful children ranging in age fom 19 to 2. We just recently adopted our 2 year old. We have had him since almost birth. Since day 1 we noticed he had this motions with his hands that we called ticks. He had them so often that his pedi sent him to a neurologist. He has an abnormality in the left side of his brain. We were told he could start having seizures at any time. They also labeled him as developmentally delayed. To me I dont think he is. So i took him to a development clinic where they said he has SPD. Some days he seems fine but others not so much. We now call them good days or bad days. He has numerous meltdowns on the bad days. He screams all the time like he has no volume control, even when he is just trying to communicate. He does not talk much only says 4 words. Some days we can swear we hear him say difficult words but we never hear it again making us feel crazy. He is a very picky eater and it changes daily on what he will eat and he throws what he does not eat. He licks everything. He empties his plates, bowls, peoples cups....anything that can be poured out it is being dumped. He is very messy but then seems to have OCD because once he is done he wants it picked up immediately or he has a meltdown. Loud noises bother him to where he covers his eyes or ears but he loves music so much we can either us music or baths to soothe his meltdowns. He can not self soothe. He does not transition well. He started weening him from his bottle at 1 but didn't get him broke until 1.5. Now he will drink out of straw cups only and nothing else. He hates cold food or drinks but loves sour and spicy food. He use to hate clothes he would have meltdowns every time we got him dressed but dont seem to mind much any more but sure wont help us dress him. He does not sleep well so he is now on meds to help. He was delayed in sitting up and crawling by a large amount but walked at 14 months. He is very very clumsy he usually has some type of bruise on his face at all times. He is always on the go and never stops but also never ever crashes. He hates to be held down and not affectionate but does not meet a stranger. If he sees something out of place like a raised finger or toe nail or even an insect bite, he picks and picks. I could keep going but I think this is the jist of it. Does this sound like SPD or do I need to keep looking for other answers?
