Hi everyone,

About me... hmmm... I'm busy I guess.. I can't say no to anyone! Always aiming to do better on that one.

I have a son who was diagnosed with SPD and motor dyspraxia in preschool, he's now nearly in highschool and some things are better but some are much the same. He has real issues concentrating and continues to find the physical fairly challenging. The first few years of school (in the local public school) were pretty bad for him, it got worse and worse over time and we finally changed to a Waldorf school, where he has been much happier and the situation has been much more positive and accepting. I can see the value of staying and fighting but sometimes it's more damaging to the child.

I can see a "stream" of SPD related issues running through the extended and immediate family - like many of those whose intros I've read, you can see similar issues/traits in yourself.

I like to be creative, I love to learn. I sew and quilt, knit and crochet, garden, draw and paint. We're winding up to the annual Christmas-"making" frenzy... I am working on developing my advocacy for children with special needs, includiing SPD (which I suspect is at the heart of so many "disorders") and their parents through research. That's about it!

I thank you for introducing yourself. It always looks a bit odd when someone who has never posted is listed as a moderator, lol. I hope all is going well for you down there. I've probably heard much of your story before, but I thank you wholeheartedly for sharing it openly. Almost in high school now? Wow! It has been a long ride already, lol. I'm so happy you're still so very supportive for the cause online and in your community.

I hope to see you around the forums, as your time will permit. I know you're busy as always, after all. And good luck to you on your campaign to end saying "yes" to absolutely everything. That gets to become quite a hassle, as I ought to learn myself.

Yes, the whole non-posting moderator thing isn't a good look. I aim to do better, this is one thing I don't regret saying yes to.

And it's mUm, btw, non of this mOm business down here. You can still say it with that special multiple vowel, rising intonation thing: Muuuuuu-um. It works just fine.

Yes, the big boy is 12, boy getting ready to go on a school trip to the Great Barrier Reef next week, they'll be camping on Northwest Island (no water, no electricity, satellite phones only) to learn to snorkel, see the turtles lay their eggs (we hope) and avoid all the dangerous poisonous things that lurk. I really admire his teacher, anyone prepared to take 30 twelve year olds away for 12 days deserves a prize... something from the Queen no less!
