Hi, my name is Erica and I am a 40 year old mom of four children. I have Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and SPD. My 12 year old son, Austin, has ADHD, SPD, and possible Asperger's Syndrome.
I came here to meet other people who have SPD or children with SPD. My son, Austin, was recently diagnosed with SPD. He is still being assessed for Asperger's Syndrome. Most people don't understand him. I just wish that they could see him the way I see him. He is so intelligent and funny.
A little about me:
I was born and raised in Vermont. So, needless to say, growing up in New England made me a huge Boston Red Sox fan! I am also a graphic artist and bird owner. I love crossword puzzles, coffee, reading literature, learning Sign Language and anything about the medical field.

RE: Introducing myself...
Sila,
Thanks for such a warm welcome! It's nice to know that there are people out there like me!
I support my son in everything that he does. I'm the only one, aside from his brother and sister, that can understand him. So, I started a blog called Understanding Austin, so that friends, teachers, and others who know him can come to understand him as well as we do.

Hi, Erica! I'm a 36 year old mom of seven, and my baby.. actually one of the 2 yr old twins, has SPD, autism, severe food allergies and seizures no one can explain.

I think that's a worthy desire on your part. No one really understood Logan, either, until he started progressing with all his therapies. Now it's easy for EVERYONE to see how funny and smart he is... something I've known since he was little more than an infant.

We have some things in common, besides our sons. I love love LOVE coffee, I just downloaded three medical papers on the connections and findings of children with both SPD and autism, and I have a blog too.. called Living with Logan.
I'll have to visit yours, and please feel free to swing by our little blog any ole time!
So great to see you here! I think you'll be impressed with the warmth and understanding you'll find here.
Thanks for sharing with us! I look forward to seeing more from you!
