RE: Over responsive & reading/homework
Thanks MArci. What did you do to adapt the material. I'll have a google too. At this stage the reading is small so i can easily pick out some sight words from her cards and make up the new ones but as we go up levels it will be more difficult. We didn't address this at OT because when she went she hadn't started reading yet.

My sensory avoider said exactly the same thing at 5 going on 6 - and now she's 21 at university Hang in there.

Thanks. I covered up the pictures and went line by line tonight and it went much better. Also tried a different setting and send the younger one downstairs to play

Also make sure there is good lighting but no glare on the page. Try to avoid materials with unusual alignments - my son can't read vertical columns of info at all - makes math rather difficult.

I am an avid reader, but without my Irlen Lenses the words just jumble together on the page and become unreadable.

But that improvement does suggest that you need a full evaluation for visual processing problems.

RE: Over responsive & reading/homework
When I was a kid, I used my pencil to underline the current sentence I was reading. The problem just got worse as I got older and even the pencil wasn't enough to keep the words from roaming.
