New to this whole idea - Malynn - 06-05-2012 Introductions - as we all know - can be kinda tough. Especially when its a new thing in our lives. Some of us take longer to 'gear up' for stuff. I am 44 and just recently my therapist suggested SPD as a diagnosis for me. I have major tactile issues, along with intense sensitivity to noise and an inability to recenter myself without...restraint, pressure, presence. Since we started talking about it and I've been educating myself it was like a bank of light bulbs went off in my head. "Oh my gosh, that is ME!". It was like being handed the code key for a cryptograph. I recently (like just last night) bought myself a weighted work out vest...and at my therapists recommendation, for now I am wearing it most of the time until the overload starts to dissipate. I tried it on in the store and knew it was the right thing that very instant. But, as the intro thread question suggests, SPD doesn't run my life. I am an avid photographer....with some amount of talent for macro (super close up) shots. I hike, bike and kayak as much as the lovely Maine weather (that is sarcasm as we have had rain for the last 4 days and have at least 5 more days expected) allows. Its nice to know I'm not alone in this and that I'm not the only adult to learn this fascinating thing about themselves so late in life. I actually like getting dental X-rays just to wear the lead vest! I'm sick of the cold and rain too! I bet you have some super photos!
