Hello - hannahecmcgarrah - 12-18-2011
I am new to this site as well as the condition of SPD. I am intimately involved with a male in his mid-twenties who has been diagnosed with "tactile defensiveness" in his childhood. I have known him since my freshman year of high school and he has only told me this within the past week. I have been doing research to understand the condition which has severely impeded our intimacy. I have read a book on the symptoms of SPD and have gained a greater understanding of my partner's behavior and reactions. I have also been reading up on the Wilbarger Brushing Protocol. I am here to be educated and help him self-actualize in any way that I able. I don't see SPD as a detriment with fault on the individual that must be cured; I feel that is another avenue in which a person experiences and interprets life and if I can do anything to make him happier and feel greater self-esteem, I will struggle with the same. Please, if you have any suggested readings, case studies, or treatments, please feel free to send me a PM. I appreciate any and all information and understanding, thank you!
